The Brief
Skype is software that enables the world’s conversations. Millions of individuals and businesses use Skype to make free video and voice calls, send instant messages and share files with other Skype users. Every day, people everywhere also use Skype to make low-cost calls to landlines and mobiles, and we have plans to help our 600m users get more from Skype. The Software Developer (Skype WiFi – Win UI) will be a key part of the development team, taking the Skype product into the future.

The Business Specific brief
Skype WiFi is a key product in the Skype product family that currently allows Wi-Fi access via various network provider partners. We are expanding our team and looking for talented developers who have a passion for developing user interfaces and being on the leading edge of technology.

You will report to the Skype WiFi Engineering Manager and be an integral part of the team, developing user interface part for a growing area of the Skype WiFi product. You will be developing and integrating software components to support new features of the product.

Key Responsibilities

  • Developing cross-platform user interface (UI) software components for a key part of the Skype Wifi product
  • Unit testing the software components that you build

Skills & Requirements

Expertise/Experience

  • You must have strong knowledge and substantial working experience with C++
  • You must have previous experience working as a user interface developer
  • Excellent communicator and fluent in English

A big plus if...

  • Basic knowledge of Delphi
  • Windows UI development experience
  • Experience in Agile development methodologies (XP, Scrum)

Qualifications

  • Ideally a BSc degree in Computer Science or similar discipline
  • Masters degree or higher preferred (but not essential)
