Zeal is developing the world's first social learning network on phones. Founded in February 2013, we release Beta1 in December and have several active classrooms and several hundred active students. We begin our closed Beta period in January and will begin increasing the pool of students we allow on the system.
We believe that instead of students having to go to a physical place to learn, they will be able to learn anything, anywhere, at any time on their phones. We believe that people learn best when they are solving a difficult problem and when they can learn from eachother rather than a teacher. If you want to help figure out how people are going to learn in the 21st century, Zeal could be the place for you.
Zeal was founded by serial entrepreneurs John Danner and Sanjay Noronha. John was the CEO and co-Founder of NetGravity, the first adserving company, which he took public and sold for $750m. He then taught for several years and founded Rocketship Education, the first technology-enabled blended schools in the country. Sanjay was the co-Founder of elance, the world's first outsourcing marketplace and has spent the last several years working in social gaming and learning apps.
We have a team of nine today and are funded for the next two years. We are looking for one or two great engineers with great experience on our stack, sharp as heck, who relish the never-boring life of an early stage startup, and want to change the world.
As learning becomes a consumer market, we think providing great tools to the 2 billion students with phones will disrupt the $4 trillion education space. We are looking for engineers who believe there is more to life than creating the next social network or game, and want to use their skills to significantly impact the ability of students in the world to learn better and faster. If you want to be part of a great team changing the world of learning, this is your opportunity.

Zeal is a 5 month old stealth online learning company, created by John Danner, who previously co-founded Rocketship Education, the leading blended schools network in the country. Prior to Rocketship, John founded NetGravity, the first adserver company, which he took public in 1998 and sold for $750M in 1999. We are here to disrupt global education and give all students access to very high quality online learning. Our goal is to make learning something as easy as Google makes finding something. We work incredibly hard and strongly value great coders and architects who can think deeply about what teachers, parents, and students need online to knock down the walls to learning. We want people who believe you can do good and do well at the same time. If that's you, send us an email.
We are located in downtown Palo Alto, across from Coupa Cafe, so plenty of good caffeine available at all times! We value incredible individual contributions, but also the ability to work well with the team. Our engineers are responsible for their own quality, no throwing code over the wall. We are colocated with NewSchools Seed Fund so if you are interested in the edtech space, you will enjoy the atmosphere.
