Job Description

As a web developer, you'll be responsible for maintaining, expanding, and scaling our sites, including Stack Overflow and Careers 2.0. You'll work on everything from front-end HTML, CSS and JS to server-side code and database architecture. 

We’re looking to hire the best people wherever they are in the world. If you’re able to relocate to our office in New York, you’ll enjoy a brand new office with some amazing amenities. If not, we expect you to be awesome at working from home, and to be available to sync up with the team a few times each week during the afternoon (Eastern time).

Skills & Requirements

We expect to see:

  • Top-notch programming skills and a track record of getting stuff done
  • Advanced skills in some server-side web development stack (e.g. RoR, ASP.NET, Django, etc). Experience in our stack (C# / ASP.NET MVC / SQL Server) is a plus, but not a requirement.
  • Up-to-date, in-depth knowledge of modern HTML, CSS and JS
  • Proven telecommuting skills: self-motivating, self-directing, and aggressively communicative (if working remotely)

We like to see:

  • An active Stack Overflow and Careers 2.0 profile
  • Open source code you're proud of
  • Deep knowledge of how Stack Exchange works from our blog and podcasts
