The Bloomberg R&D Fixed Income group develops software applications which provide data and analytics to the world's market movers. We cover a broad set of asset classes including governments, corporates, money markets, municipals, preferred stock and loans. Our analytical functions are the industry standards in their respective markets, and we are constantly evolving and improving our products.
This is a software development position in the Fixed Income Infrastructure team. We support the low-level systems that drive business-critical functionality for fixed income securities at Bloomberg. We develop the standard APIs, services and databases which are depended on by many application teams throughout the firm, including core fixed income, trading systems, portfolios and others.
The central mission of our team is to aggressively improve the fixed income software infrastructure to achieve the goals of scalability, high-reliability and high-performance. This involves incrementally refactoring our code and in some cases, redesigning existing systems entirely. As this infrastructure development progresses, we maintain the current level of service for our clients, as well as enhance the existing functionality by simultaneously delivering business projects. This unique challenge requires the ability to be creative with software solutions, manage risk and leverage the skills and knowledge of many other teams at Bloomberg.
We are looking for a technically-competent and reliable developer who is able to work on a diverse set of projects (some involving legacy code bases). This person would be delivery-focused while supporting our long-term vision for our software. They can adapt to changing priorities and are willing to go the extra mile for important projects. Knowledge of fixed income markets is a plus but not required. Basic project management skills are a big plus.
