About The Job: Acumen, LLC is a fast paced and rapidly growing research company devoted to answering cutting edge policy questions. We have petabytes of secure data and 100s of large in-house servers. Our team automates the management and efficient use of all those resources, and develops powerful, easy to use tools to guarantee the right people are using the right data, while tracking pretty much everything that happens.
We are a small group of developers within a larger growing company. This means working on all stages of a software’s life cycle, from initial design to final implementation. It means working at all levels of the application, from low level data access to polished UIs. You will be able to have real, meaningful input into how large and complicated systems take shape.
This is not just a job for a code monkey. We see ourselves as a small start-up serving a large client. You will be expected to pick up new languages and tools quickly, have a broad knowledge of computer related subjects, and are willing to do whatever it takes to get the job done. Your ability to grow and learn is as important to us as your past experience.
- Excited about learning new ways of doing things, thinking outside of the box
- Excited about programming and technology in general
- Bachelors or advanced degree in computer related field or equivalent experience
- Familiar with the principles of software development , including design, testing and upkeep
Things it would be nice if you knew/ had experience with:
- Understanding, making, and defending design decisions
- Groovy or Java
- General web technologies, and an understanding of how they worked together
- MVC architecture
- The concepts and practices behind continuous delivery
